Booking Venues

My group and I were hoping to film our 'live venue' in the theatre at our college but unfortunately, the theatre will be set out for the pantomime so we have had to think of an alternative venue. We came up with the idea of using our old school's drama studio as it has a similar layout to the theatre within college. I have e-mailed the school asking if this would be possible after phoning and being told to email a specific address.

Dear Sir/Madam

I was told to email this adress to discuss the possibility of booking The Cube to film in for my media studies A Level coursework. My group and I are all previous students of Canon Lee (Roxannah Linklater, Elizabeth Oxby, William Hirst, George Watson and George Howard) and think it would be the perfect venue for our idea. If the cube is free, we would like to film on either the 4th or the 5th of December next week. I'm sorry that this is a little short notice, we have only just been given these dates by our tutors at college.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Roxannah Linklater

We are presently awaiting confirmation.

Costumes

To fit in with the alternative rock genre, we have decided to mirror the clothing of weezer as much as possible. The band members will mostly be wearing the same clothing throughout the video which will consist of motstly general, almost 'geeky' items, tieing into the conventions of the band.

Pitch feedback

After watching our pitch, our peers gave us some feedback.
The general consensus was that, in relation to our digipak design, the fact that it features an unravelling sweater is too song specific for album artwork as it reflects the lyrics in our chosen song, 'If you want to destroy my sweater, pull this thread as I walk away'. Thinking about this my group and I feel that because the theme of 'unravelling' is not just present in one song but consistent throughout the whole album we have decided to keep the original design. This technique can also be seen in other albums within similar genres such Jens Lekman's album: Night Falls Over Kortedala. Here, the artist is featured on the cover having his haircut which is the theme of the song 'Shirin'. Another example of this is Ryan Adam's album: 29, which shows death or 'The Grim Reaper' approaching a house which ties in with the lyrics of 'The Sadness', a song that has the overall theme of the artist meeting death and trying to overcome it, 'Something's at the window, it motions with its fingers calling me beyond'.

As well as this, we need to ensure that we have booked all the college locations for shooting our music video such as the recording studio and the green screen room.

Audience Profile

George is 17. He is a fan of alternative, indie and rock music, as these genres are all fairly similar and appeal to him as a musician (he is able to play both the guitar and drums). He watches music videos rarely, but the kind that appeal to him have either humorous aspects or abstract imagery that provokes thought in conjunction with footage of the band or artist actually performing. He preferres music videos that last the length of the song rather than going on longer with extra added bits of dialogue, but still likes videos with an added 'something' rather than just footage of the artist themselves. As well as watching music videos for entertainment, George looks to bands and artists for inspration regarding fashion, mostly wearing checkered shirts and vans or converse.
